How To Purchase an English Bulldog Puppy from
Castlewood Bulldogs

First Things First…..

Before moving forward, it is important to read and know the following information:

There is an Application and Interview Process
We are very protective of our bulldog puppies and carefully screen potential homes to make sure they are a good fit for a Castlewood bulldog puppy. All homes are asked to complete the puppy application where we respectfully ask questions about your home, family life, dog experience, bulldog knowledge, day plans for your future bulldog puppy, etc. This questionnaire is what we base our initial assessment on and how we decide whether or not to move forward with a particular home. So, please answer these questions as thoroughly as possible. Incomplete applications or applications that simply answer yes/no to most questions let us know that the home is not serious enough and will not receive a response.

English Bulldog Puppies are Placed as Companion Pets Only
All of our pet English Bulldog puppies are placed with spay/neuter contracts and limited registration. There are no breeding rights allowed or given. A “pet” does not mean that the bulldog puppy is of lesser quality. Rather, we are very protective of the puppies we produce and are only interested in placing them in loving pet homes where they are, first and foremost, properly spoiled members of the family.

The Puppy Contract
Please be sure to read over and understand the puppy contract. It covers and details things such as the health guarantee, spay/neuter requirements, etc. It is fairly basic but important to read over and understand so that we are all on the same “page” so to speak before moving forward. Here is the link to the sample contract for you to read over (an official version to be signed, with the puppy’s specific information, will be sent prior to adoption). [Link]

Pricing and Deposits
Bulldog puppies are $5,000, with the first pick of male and female of the litter being $5,500. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to be added to the waiting list and will be applied to the total purchase price of your Bulldog. A position on the waiting list cannot and will not be held for any individual until the deposit has been received. Please note that Missouri residents are also required to pay Missouri state sales tax.

Shipping & Delivery
Homes are always welcome to come and pick up their bulldog puppy in person. However, we understand that this is not a possibility for every home. Therefore, when our time and circumstances allow, we personally fly with the puppy next to us in the cabin and hand-deliver your new bulldog puppy to you at a nearby major airport. The cost for the service is $850 (price is subject to change as airline tickets fluctuate). This price includes the cost of my plane ticket, the $125 in-cabin pet fee, hotel, gas (the closest airport to me is a 5-hour round trip drive), and my time. I have memberships to almost all private airport lounges, so your puppy will have a quiet place to hang out and play between flights. I also have Executive Platinum status (highest available) with AA, which means that if there happens to be a flight cancelation or delay, we are at the very top of the list for new flights. It also means that most often, we are upgraded, and your puppy flies first class.

In the past, we have used third-party flight nannies. The cost was more. They flew via stand-by, so there were often last-minute cancellations. While in transport, when there were cancellations or delays, the nannies had nowhere to take the puppy, so the puppy was just stuck in its crate at crowded gate areas. I decided that wasn’t good enough for my bulldog babies and started doing it myself.

If you have read and understood the above and are ready to move forward with your dream of owning a beautiful bulldog…..Great! Here are the next steps and waiting list information:

Fill out the puppy application.
As mentioned above, we carefully screen any and all potential bulldog puppy homes. Not only do your answers help us in determining the best fit for our bulldog puppies, they also help us get to know you a little better and lets us know if there is anything we may need to explain, talk about, or discuss. Waiting List
Homes that have submitted a puppy application and who have subsequently been approved as a home for one of our bulldog puppies have the opportunity to place a $500 deposit to reserve a place in line for a bulldog puppy out of one of our future litters. This deposit will be applied to the total purchase price of your Bulldog.

We try to limit our waiting list to only accept as many homes as we think we will have bulldog puppies for within six months. Once we feel we have reached that capacity, we will close the waiting list. Placing a deposit is the only way to guarantee your place in line on our waitlist.

Homes are given the option to choose a gender and coat color preference. If we are unable to offer you a puppy to choose with your gender and color preferences within six months, the home has the option of either receiving a refund of their deposit or renewing their agreement without losing their position on the waiting list.

On very rare occasions, we will have a puppy available that has not already been reserved by deposit. If/when this happens, we will send out litter announcements. Announcements will only be sent to those homes that have submitted a puppy application within the last six months or to homes that have kept in contact with us over the previous six months. If you have not placed a deposit, you are not guaranteed a puppy, nor can I save your place in line.

What is the length of the waiting list?
As mentioned above, we try not to take more deposits than what we think we will have bulldog puppies for in the next six months. However, there are many unknown factors involved that make this impossible to do at times. First, we must wait and see if a particular breeding is even successful. Then we have to see what genders, what colors and how many puppies we end up with. There are just so many unknown variables.

Because of this, we cannot predict an exact time or month when a bulldog puppy will be available.

For example, say we are expecting a litter, and it ends up being a nice size litter of six, but they are all boys (yes, I have had this happen). Well, then those on our waiting list for females will have a bit longer of a wait than I initially thought, but those waiting for males will have a much shorter wait, even if they were further down the deposit list. In fact, that same scenario may even result in our having a male puppy available that has not already been previously reserved with a deposit.

Additional Information
We are available to new puppy owners day or night with any questions or concerns they may have. We like to stay in contact with the new families of our English Bulldog puppies and will take back any puppy or adult anytime, should the need arise. We feel the best way to support the English Bulldog rescue is to make sure that our bulldogs don’t end up there.

If you are seriously interested in one of our English Bulldog puppies and would like to be considered as a possible home for one of them, you can begin our interview process by filling out our puppy application. You can also read over a sample of our puppy contract.
